Dr. Supraja is a Senior Consultant Pediatrician and Pediatric Intensivist at DHEE Hospitals, a multispecialty tertiary care hospital on Kanakapura Road. With 20+ years of expertise, she is one of Bengaluru’s leading pediatricians. Experienced in all the health needs of children spanning across the ages of Birth to 18 years.
Previously, she held the position of Head of the Department of Pediatrics at a busy multispecialty hospital and served as a Senior Consultant Pediatrician and Intensivist at a reputed corporate hospital in Yeshwanthpur.
Having completed her training in some of the best hospitals in the United Kingdom, Dr. Supraja returned to India to further specialize. She earned the National First Rank in Pediatric Intensive Care through a Fellowship at the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. Subsequently, she played a pivotal role in establishing a robust pediatric team focused on acute pediatric care in her former hospital, overseeing the department for seven years.
Renowned for her sympathetic temperament, effortless connection with kids, and strong family rapport, Dr. Supraja has received rave reviews from her patients, especially the children. Collaborating with her team, she actively contributed to the care of critically ill children, sharing her findings in international journals and academic discussions.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Supraja is passionate about teaching and training. Accredited as a Teacher of the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Intensive Care Chapter, she is a simulation-based teaching trainer and a qualified clinical course instructor for critical care and life support courses.
As a faculty member for various state- and national-level workshops, including advanced ventilation and simulation training, Dr. Supraja formerly served on the Board of Directors for PediSTARS (Pediatric Simulation Training and Research Society). Her commitment extends to teaching nurses in simulation and guiding pediatricians in emergency and acute pediatrics.
Dr. Supraja was an active member of the Karnataka State Govt.’s Health & Family Welfare Department’s Pediatric Clinical Experts Committee. Actively participating in the academic training initiative initiated by the Government of Karnataka, she imparted knowledge to pediatric intensive care physicians at Govt Hospital Tumkur. She has been invited to several national and state events, she educated paramedics, doctors, and nurses on preparing for pediatric COVID, raising awareness in public forums and schools.
Author of ‘FIRST TOUCH,’ a guide to newborn care for novice parents, Dr. Supraja’s patients, both in India and overseas, have praised the book. Recently in 2023 she released the second edition of the book.
Her contributions to health issues have been recognized, with the Asare Trust honoring her with the Nirbhaya Award on International Women’s Day 2014.
Apart from her clinical work she also dedicates time to Preventive and Community Child Care. She has worked actively on Childhood Nutrition [ started a unique Lifestyle Initiative for Kids called Eat Play Connect Right !] . So far 9635 children across various prominent schools have been educated. Other initiatives include Child Safety [S.A.F.E = Safety And First Aid for Everyone campaign]. She regularly conducts First Aid and Basic Life Support workshops for all prominent schools in North Bengaluru. She has already trained close to 685 high school students in basic life support under the SETME [Student Empowerment Through Medical Education] Programs. She was also the invited Jury member for the ASSOCHAM Parentof 2017 Innovative awards for schools across Bangalore under the category of Health and Safety.
She has authored FIRST TOUCH a book on newborn care written for novice parents. The book has received excellent feedback from all her patients in India and abroad.
Dr Supraja is a proud mother of two beautiful young girls Anoushka aged 17 years and Anvita aged 12 years and married to Dr Chandrasekar a successful and enterprising entrepreneur surgeon who is her source of inspiration.
