The cravings for unhealthy snacks can be reduced by implementing best diabetic friendly snacks or food – sucrose free, low in fructose, high fiber, protein dense with vitamins and minerals is very important. In order to do that, Stuff your kitchen with paneer, soya tofu, boiled sprouts, soaked almond, boiled lentils, roasted peanut, egg, boiled Soya chunks even using steamed or boiled lean meat, steamed or baked fish with added Vegetables and greens -Which provide Good protein and fiber.

In the preparation of the snacks use any of the above-mentioned foods like chopped boiled egg white or roasted paneer or boiled sprouts etc., as a base Then mix about 10 grams of roasted or boiled groundnut or soaked almond, 5 grams of mixed seeds, adding grated or chopped lettuce, cucumber, onions, bell pepper, capsicum crushed mint, curry leaves coriander leaves lastly few drops of lemon juice and sprinkling roasted Oats completes 5 groups of nutrients – Complex Carbohydrate, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. To create the awareness- DHEE HOSPITAL conducted a vibrant cooking competition celebrating World Diabetes Day November 2023, organized from Nutrition and Dietetics Department. this healthy feast with a learning recipe for all was led by myself Shubha Ramesh L Chief Dietitian. All hospital staff participated in making healthy diabetic snacks and meals. There was a delicious display of some scrumptious food which was well balanced in calories, glycemic index and yet mouthwatering. By the time the judges finished the taster sessions the food vanished leaving everyone finger licking happy! The various departments participated including the billing, Admin, Nursing, HR, Physio, Radio, and the Doctors. All onlookers including hospital staff and patients were left pleasantly inspired. All Department recipes stole the show with their gastronomic portion-controlled rice flake delicacies with curd and green salad is good as breakfast with the concept of Probiotic, High fiber, High protein, *Butter Fruit Paneer Veg Multi Grain Sandwith, *Diabetic Fruit Salad using diabetic permitted and portioned controlled fruits was an excellent concept *Oats, Almond milk as good appetize, high source of Protein and Fiber. * Soy-Pu Chunks with combination Makana chatpata- with green salad snack for mid-morning, * Green Sprouts bhel is a best diabetic friendly snack. In total all food covers five food groups – complex carbohydrate, High in Protein, Fiber, Vitamins and Minerals. Together we all moved towards a healthier and happier nation.
